In 1950s Spain, the heir to a fashion house romances a beautiful seamstress who works for the company, despite the objections of his family.

The first step is opening shop in the other great Spanish city, Barcelona, on its world famous promenade, the Passeig de Gracia. There, the second Velvet Fashion Store is about to open its gates, managed by Ana's good friend Clara who had made it up the career ladder from seamstress to directorial assistant in the Madrid Velvet years.

After a series of unsuccessful affairs, Sophie retreats to the countryside. While writing a detective story and trying to sort our her personal life, Sophie comes to realise her own identity.

'Velvet' was supposed to be a film about creator Ofem Ubi's grandma, her life and what was her home in Ikom, Nigeria, before she passed away. However, on returning to Ikom, he soon discovered that the house had been given away by the family and that it had become a retail store. Staring at a place he once called home himself, not being able to access it like he used to, he decided instead to document who was living right before his eyes. Thus, Velvet is a poetic appreciation of Ubi's maternal grandpa - a gentle and introspective black and white film, focusing on texture, routine and ageing. The film invites us to consider our elders and the histories they carry on their bodies.

When David Lynch was making his film Blue Velvet, German filmmaker Peter Braatz was also on set, shooting documentary footage with a Super 8 film camera. Now, on Blue Velvet's 30th anniversary, Braatz presents his footage, along with still photographs, as a "meditation" on Lynch's work.

One night he manages to catch up with his persecutor and tries to get him to talk but in the ensuing struggle he accidentally stabs him. He runs away, but he understands his troubles have just begun when the following day he receives an envelope with photos of him killing the man. Someone is killing all his friends and trying to frame him for the murders.
